misterskandar asked: Eeeek! You're in the gif of Electrick Children with Liam Aiken? (I help run the misterliamaiken blog, by the way). You've made thousands of Liam fangirls jealous ha ha =) I can't wait to see that movie, by the way. It looks so good! And sorry if this sounds creepy... but you have a rockin' body~

Hey there,

You’re awesome for keeping up with Electrick Children and making so many fun, cool, creative GIFS of the film. We all thought they were adorable and a fun way to capture the film. Electrick Children got swooped up at Berlin so hopefully you will see it in theaters sooner rather than later.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

All the best,

Cassidy

This was on my desk this morning when I came into work. It’s from my mom and I have no idea how she got into my office.
Valentine’s Day Mystery, 2012.

I was just saying how my Mom sent me Valentine’s Day goodies! Sephora is the best. I am obsessed with beauty products. My beauty cabinet is getting ridiculously packed.

Kacie B.

I about give myself a heart attack every Tuesday morning watching The Bachelor on Hulu. I get so invested in this show. Kacie B has been my favorite from Day 1. It might possibly be because she reminds me of Kimberly Williams Paisley in Father of the Bride. Also, because I wrote KWP a fan letter when I was 12 asking her for advice about acting and she wrote me back the most in depth personal letter but seriously she reminds me of her post eye brow waxing:

Homegirl explaining her disdain for Courtney:

I hear ya girl. I have this sinking prediction that Ben chooses Courtney but maybe I’m just a pessimist. If Kacie B doesn’t end up with Ben then maybe they will make her the new Bachelorette post Emily Maynard. I adore Kacie!

Here are my predictions: It will come down to Kacie and Courtney and Nikki will go home before Lindzi. I’m glad Lindzi is on the hometown date only because her family is from the town I grew up in and I can’t wait to see it since I haven’t been home in four years (my family visits me).

BTW, Happy Valentine’s Day. I’m listening to the festive Pandora station and about to go open a Valentine’s Day box my Mom sent. Mothers are the best. Seriously. Love mine to pieces.

Weekend Project

Ever since I was little, there was nothing I loved more than tearing photos I like out of magazines and pinning them to a cork board. I would consistently update my board with inspiration and put the old tear outs in a scrapbook.

I stopped buying magazines when I lived in NYC. My monthly ritual was grabbing a chair at the Union Square Barnes and Noble and reading ALL the magazines for free. Even now, I usually only buy magazines when I fly. They recycle the same articles over and over. However, I have no short of fashion magazines stacked around my apartment. My secret? I buy 15-20 a time at “Out of the Closet” in West Hollywood. Proceeds go to AIDS research and they’re only 50 cents each. I go maybe twice a month and then transform back into my seven year old self. I play good music, give Hazel a rawhide so she’ll be quiet, and I relax flipping through all my purchased magazines.

I also picked up postcards from the early 1900’s at the Fairfax Flea Market. They were arranged by states, themes, and military letters home. A voyeuristic part of me was fascinated by these tiny peeks into people’s lives. One of them was a note from a man to a lady telling her not to worry about the other lady, that he didn’t really like her all that much after all. Year? 1912. These issues are timeless. I feel like it was the equivalent of some Facebook comment that leaves a girlfriend going, “Why is SHE writing on YOUR wall?”

I have double doors to my closet and I wanted to do a little project of painting magnet paint on them so I could make collages all over the doors. I was also thinking of doing chalk paint but I despise the sound of chalk on a chalkboard. It makes me want to grind my teeth. Instead, I opted for 4 cork boards placed in the squares of the wall.

After putting them up, I thought it looked a little awkward not to have them placed all the way to the bottom but it will do for now until I start my painting project. Each board has a theme.

Clockwise:

Board 1. The top left is Casual Chic, dressy clothes that are made out of comfort fabrics like jersey and cotton. Then, to the right, I have modern, dressier pieces that inspire me for Spring.

Board 2. Ideas for work clothes when interviewing or doing hosting segments. I’m favoring fitted pencil skirts, polka dot blouses, and pumps in pops of color instead of the basic neutral/black.

Board 3. Cute hair style ideas. When I get ready in the morning it’s nice to glance at the board and see a quick pictorial on how to do french braid buns, pulled back bouffants, and big bouncy curls. Mostly, they’re just visual inspiration that help me pull outfit ideas together.

Board 4. Accessories (scarves, booties, sunglasses, bangles, watches, rings). Ideas for transitioning pieces with cardigans, blazers, and scarves.

My all time favorite score from the weekend is the Saturday Evening Post magazine from 1944. I love anything and everything related to NYC and this was only $2. I’m framing it to put above my desk.

I still have a giant book filled with tear sheets of various styles I like. It’s peaceful to enjoy the same activity that I’ve been doing for 15+ years.

“I found that every single successful person I’ve ever spoken to had a turning point and the turning point was where they made a clear, specific, unequivocal decision that they were not going to live like this anymore. Some people make that decision at 15 and some people make it at 50 and most never make it at all.” — Brian Tracy  (via growingupindie)
